- Nehan- Buddha's Paranirvana (483 BCE) February 15th
- O-Higan March 20th, and Sept. 23rd.
- Hana Matsuri- Buddha's birth (563 BCE) April 8th
- Obon- Zen festival honoring our departed ancestors July 13th to 16th
- Bodhidharma day- First Zen Patriarch (470-543 BCE) October 15th
- Rohatsu- Buddha's Enlightenment Dec. 8th
Zen Wedding Ceremony-Please contact Reverend Thompson for your Zen wedding plans. Customarily $100 donation.
Formal Zen Membership levels- For those students who are sincere in their commitment to Zen training and wish to formalize it, he or she may request lay initiation Tokudo, and Zen Disciple ceremony. Please click on the Membership link to learn more about each of the following ceremonies.
ONGOING PRACTICE
Once again, I will be peripatetically travelling
and teaching the Dharma while on the road during the months of June, July, and,
August 2008. There will not be any weekly Sanzenkai Services during June, July,
and, August 2008 during my absence. You may contact the Atlanta Soto Zen Center
and participate in their summer events programs. Please also refer to our
online Zen Events Calendar at http://zen.meetup.com/21/ . I anticipate
posting occasional updates throughout the summer months.

Sundays- Weekly Sanzenkai Service. Service starts at 10 am. Held at the First Class 2nd Hand Store- 170 N. Lime Ave. Sarasota FL 34237. Clean body. Clean mind. Clean speech.
The Sanzenkai service last about one hour.
Private instruction (Dokusan)- In
the event someone cannot make it to our Sunday service or wishes
individual instruction (Dokusan), private meditation can be arranged by
calling Reverend Thompson at the Zen center at 941-929-9308. Customarily donation of ten dollars per instruction.
